Our Story
Built From the Ground Up for Independent and Boutique Hotels
Expand Hotels started in 2014 with one belief — a hotel’s own name should be strong enough to sell rooms and generate maximum revenue, without a franchise badge attached to it.
How The Model Came Together
Five Gaps, Closed One at a Time
2014
The Gap Nobody Was Closing
In 2014, most independent and boutique hotels still earned the bulk of their business through direct guests, walk-ins, offline agents, and corporate accounts, with only a small share coming from the online platforms guests were beginning to search on first. Expand Hotels identified this gap and started by getting hotels properly set up and priced on the online booking platforms they were missing out on. Listing and pricing management became the first service offered, simply because it was the first gap that needed closing.
Stage 2
Fixing a Problem the First Fix Created
As online platforms grew, they began competing with each other on price — and that competition ran straight through every channel a hotel used. Without anyone watching the whole picture, a hotel’s own channels sometimes ended up competing against each other without anyone realising it. Expand Hotels responded by introducing unified channel distribution and reservations management, so every channel started working toward the same goal instead of against one another.
Stage 3
A Gap That Only Became Visible After the First Two Were Fixed
Once Expand Hotels was managing reservations from every source, a second, quieter problem came into view: some hotels had strong pricing but too few enquiries to make the most of it. Digital Marketing was added as a natural extension of the revenue work already underway — same team, same revenue goal, with sales insight feeding directly into campaign strategy from day one.
Stage 4
The Foundation Marketing Needed to Actually Work
Even strong campaigns were bringing in leads that never closed, for hotels with inconsistent photography, no clear visual identity, and a website that didn’t convert. That told Expand Hotels something important: a stronger foundation wasn’t a creative extra, it was a revenue requirement. Brand Identity, and the technology tools that support it, were added to close that gap.
Stage 5
Proof for Every Rupee Spent
With three pillars now working together, hotel owners needed one place to see what each pillar was actually producing. Performance Intelligence reporting was built for exactly that, so every hotel partner always has a complete, honest picture of results — not just a promise of them.
Led by Someone Who Has Done This Before
Expand Hotels was founded by Surendra Sharma in 2014, and the agency has grown by staying close to one focus: hotels that want to build their own name in the market, not borrow someone else’s.
